I'm Sorry...

I have been meaning to post, but just have not had the time. Plus, there isn't all that much to post about. I'm just going to list some of the things I've learned this week.

1. I don't actually prefer working with guys over girls.
2. Not everyone appreciates sarcasm.
3. If you are going to cheat, go for the tiramiu cheesecake (it was totally worth it).
4. Guys do not get body language... actually, they don't get the english language either... I mean, what part of "I don't like you" do you not understand?!
5. You never know who is watching you at Starbucks.
6. NEVER tell a guy you are a hair stylist!
7. Agreeing to work out with someone is a sure-fire way to aquire an inescapable friend.
8. When NYers meet outside of NY, there is an immediate bond.
9. Stay away from guys who have a foot fettish (they will try to steal your toe rings).
10. Nextels are actually a curse.

I never realized how uneventful my life was

that is, until now. In the last several days, I have spun out a car (did a full 360), rode in a car that almost flipped (I literally saw my life flash before my eyes!), lost a wheel (not just the tire, but the whole rim) that flew out into a field somewhere, I smashed the windshield of the car I was driving, while being chased, after being shot at. Oh, and I was also approached by a drug dealer (kind of...). Yeah, my life must have been pretty run of the mill before, but I am beginning to think this new exciting life may be the one for me.

In case anyone cares

I am here. I am safe. And my room is super sweet! The only thing I wish it had that it does not is a DVD player (no, not so I can watch movies). I would like to listen to my CDs and watch my Arabic DVDs. I was really hoping to get a lot of studying done in the next month and a half. Well, I suppose I will have to content myself with the books and do it the old fashioned way.

Some things I had forgotten...until I went home

10. Peperoni pizza can be a topic of controversy.
9. Doctors are of the devil, and Politicians are a little below them.
8. No one does road work like NY does road work!
7. Concerning conversations with sisters: listening is optional, and um-hm is an exceptable answer to any question (if, however, you are out for brownie points, quote lyrics or a Disney movie).
6. Tidal waves are in the eye of the beholder.
5. Pina Colada Slurpees are the best after-beach pick-me-up.
4. Cocoa Puffs at 1:00 a.m. definitely constitutes breakfast.
3. There is no better way to bond with a sister than to sing Disney songs, while making the five-hour trek home - oh and did I mention rasberry thick shakes with french fries? =P
2. Even extended family is a wonderful thing.
1. Nothing says "I love you" like having jellyfish hurled at you by your little brother (who, by the way, has perfect aim and a great arm due to the fact that he is one of the top pitchers on his baseball team).

The adventures of Sushi and Sunshine Continue!

We had a number of run-ins with the law, both domestic and foreign (most of these were imaginary, but based on some real-life event). We were told to leave 2 museums, and I was dragged out of a third in hand-cuffs for damaging an American founding document (I was re-arrested and dragged out of a bell tower several days later). Sushi was arrested after falling into the Lion's area and being attacked by said beast. We were yelled at and chased down by the Secret Service in front of the White House. We were both declare Persona Non Grata while abroad; she in Ireland, and I in Vietnam. We were both using assumed names at the time, so I guess it was not that bad. Sushi was reprimanded for handling an ancient relic. She was also stopped at a checkpoint for wearing bright pink bangle bracelets. We attracted the attention of a policeman who was guarding the FBI building, but managed to escape him. There were numerous incriminating pictures taken of us as engaged in all manner of illegal activities. All in all, we had a great time!

Sushi's Visit

We have kept very busy throughout Sushi's stay with me. Here are several pictures that show a little of what we have been up to:

Food has been an important part of every day. Above is the French toast with ice cream that I made last week (ok, so I bought the ice cream).

Sushi is a shopaholic! I cannot even keep up with her! Do you like these shoes Puddleduck? Sushi is modeling them for you.

Patriotic cookies! Sushi is become quite a proficient in the kitchen. I am so proud of her! She made a quiche, pizza, and pickled cucumbers (not all for the same meal). She decorated the American and French flag cookies (it was done completely with sprinkles).

A scavenger hunt was part of Sushi's first day here while I was at work. I have been trying to keep her busy while I am gone during the day, but found out early on that she is such a daytime sleeper that most of the hours are taken up with that activity. Makes my job easier. =)
