"As government, we have a different responsibility about advancing the cause of religion, which we are not going to do"

That was Kathy Lantry's (St. Paul, Minnesota council president) explanation for why the "easter" bunny display had to be removed from City Hall. What is so funny about it is that the "easter" bunny is so far from religious - in fact, I know many Christians who are offended by bunnies, eggs, etc, that have become part of the modern celebration of Easter because it diminishes the importance of a day that celebrates the sacred. If they want to eliminate all religious references, maybe they should begin by removing the "St." from "St. Paul," instead of targeting pastel, cloth bunnies.
