"To the dolphin alone, nature has given that which the best philosophers seek: Friendship for no advantage. Though it has no need of help from any man, it is a genial friend to all and has helped mankind." ~ Plutarch

Hmmm... So that's my personality???
Your Personality Is |
You are both logical and creative. You are full of ideas. You are so rational that you analyze everything. This drives people a little crazy! Intelligence is important to you. You always like to be around smart people. In fact, you're often a little short with people who don't impress you mentally. You seem distant to some - but it's usually because you're deep in thought. Those who understand you best are fellow Rationals. In love, you tend to approach things with logic. You seek a compatible mate - who is also very intelligent. At work, you tend to gravitate toward idea building careers - like programming, medicine, or academia. With others, you are very honest and direct. People often can't take your criticism well. As far as your looks go, you're coasting on what you were born with. You think fashion is silly. On weekends, you spend most of your time thinking, experimenting with new ideas, or learning new things. |

Trying to Rememeber...
...to praise Him in the storm.
I was sure by now
That You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say “Amen”, and it’s still raining
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain“I’m with you”
And as You mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away
I’ll praise You in this storm
And I will life my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
Every tear I’ve cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm
I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry
You raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can’t find You
I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth

"As government, we have a different responsibility about advancing the cause of religion, which we are not going to do"
That was Kathy Lantry's (St. Paul, Minnesota council president) explanation for why the "easter" bunny display had to be removed from City Hall. What is so funny about it is that the "easter" bunny is so far from religious - in fact, I know many Christians who are offended by bunnies, eggs, etc, that have become part of the modern celebration of Easter because it diminishes the importance of a day that celebrates the sacred. If they want to eliminate all religious references, maybe they should begin by removing the "St." from "St. Paul," instead of targeting pastel, cloth bunnies.

Did You Know That:
Strawberries are not berries, but avacados and eggplant are?
The Cherry Trees in DC are sterile and do not bear fruit? The stamens are replaced by additional petals ("double" flowers).
Sushi is not fish? It is pickled rice. The raw fish, often served with it, is called sashimi.
Bananas that grow in the wild have lots of seeds in them? The ones we buy in the store were domesticated, bred by humans to be seedless. The only way to grow new banana plants (which, by the way, are not trees) is from cuttings of existing plants.
If you are ever asked to name the capitol of Assyria, you should ask, which one? Assyria actually had four different capitols at various points in its history: Calah was first, followed by Dur Sharrukin, then Sargon, and finally Nineveh. By 612 Nineveh was destroyed by the Medes and Babylonians, and the Assyrian Empire came to an end.
Maltese is a semitic langauge (very similar to Arabic) that uses the Latin alphabet?
Well, now you too know all this useless information =) And in the spirit of a dear sarcastic professor, you are all stupider for having taken the time to read this post =P

"Born to be Unsatisfied"
We are born with a lingering hunger
We are born to be unsatisfied
We are strangers who can't help but wander
And dream about the other side of -
Someday all that's crazy
All that's unexplained
Will fall into place
And someday all that's hazy
Through a clouded glass
Will be clear at last
And sometimes we're just waiting
For someday
Every puzzle's missing piece
Every unsolved mystery
More than half of every whole
Rests in the Hands that hold you for someday.
~ Nichole Nordeman, Someday
We are certainly not called to be discontent, but we will not have the culmination of fulfillment until we reach heaven. The Westminster shorter catechism says "man's chief end is glorify God and enjoy Him forever." We can do that defectively for now, but someday we will experience the perfection of our "chief end." I think if we can remember anything of our former lives at that point, we will look back and say, "this is what I was missing my whole life!"

Education is Not the Key
While listening to my favorite Christian apologist last night, I was struck by something he said. I am not quoting word for word because I do not rememeber the exact quote, but it went something like this:
Then he went on to say:
I think he made a really good point! The problem with mankind is not his lack of education, but his sin nature. Until Christ makes him a new creature, all the education in the world (even an education in ethics) will only make him a better sinner, not a good person.
Christ did not come into the world to make bad people good; He came to make dead people alive.
Then he went on to say:
If you find a man stealing nuts and bolts from a railway track, you do not give him an education; when he comes back he will steal the entire track.
I think he made a really good point! The problem with mankind is not his lack of education, but his sin nature. Until Christ makes him a new creature, all the education in the world (even an education in ethics) will only make him a better sinner, not a good person.
